In today's tips and tricks we look at a special resource category: the event.

In addition to the usual resource categories such as employees, machines or vehicles, in Vanillaplan you can also define events as resources. The special thing about events is that, compared with employees and inventory, they are available and can be scheduled as often as you like. They are not restricted by working hours and can be used for several projects at the same time without scheduling conflicts.

In the video above we show how to create a special event that acts as a Post-it. This can serve as a reminder of a particular event for everyone involved in the project. And this is how you create a Post-it: first, in the Master data menu area, open the Categories view in order to create a new resource category. We simply called ours Post-it and chose a colour - you are of course free to choose the name and colour. Then you create a specific resource for the Post-it resource category. Here too we simply used the name Post-it. In addition, at this point you can upload an image for the resource. In the final step you can now drag the Post-it you have created onto the projects you want in the project view and, by right-clicking under Edit event, give it a suitable note in the Description field.

To extend this trick further, you can also add different Post-its with different colours for different functions. If you have questions about this trick - or in general - get in touch with us, we are happy to help.
