2025 Year in Review

Another year has passed – and so it came to be that we gathered together again this year for our beloved Christmas dinner tradition. Instead of going out, we spent the evening in our decorated office this time. As we stirred the communal fondue pot and the raclette cheese slowly sizzled away, we looked back on the highlights of the year. And here they are!

In 2025, we were involved in two major projects...

...which grew simultaneously and kept us very busy. One was completely new and innovative, the other more down-to-earth and closely related to our daily work – our AI for resource planning and our time and performance tracking!

Both projects challenged us in their own way, forcing us to tinker, discard, rethink and restructure. Ideas that seemed simple on paper suddenly became tricky in practice. But in the end, both were crowned with success.

Our AI was ready right on time for 1 April – and it was much more than an April Fool's joke! Even if what it can do sounded almost exactly like one at first: planning assignments with just one click. A sentence you only believe once you've seen it.

Our AI won an award at its first major appearance at HOLZ in Basel – bronze in the HOLZ 2025 Innovation Award! We were delighted, and after many months of intensive work, it felt like a great success, especially for our developers.

At the same time, time and performance recording continued to take shape. It was particularly nice to see how an entire team worked on different parts – from various functions to the mobile app version – and how, piece by piece, individual components formed a complete product.

But it wasn't always about the big picture...

...because it's often the small features that really simplify everyday planning. This year, the optimisation of our software was all about ‘more overview, less time’. The two coloured dots before each project phase now allow the project status to be seen at a glance – a real relief for anyone who wants to get their bearings quickly. And with the new functions of recording projects directly in the resource view and filtering by temporary employees, there have been significant improvements in terms of time savings.

One new development that we were particularly pleased with – especially because it ties in directly with time recording and thus optimises the interaction between resource planning and time recording – was holiday recording. Employees request their holidays on their mobile phones in the time recording system, their supervisors approve them with a click – and the absences are automatically visible in the resource planning system. It really gets you in the holiday mood during the planning stage!

Between KPIs, content and customer calls...

...the marketing and sales team ensured that the well-designed products and features received the attention they deserved.

Similar to the development department, the marketing team was also largely occupied with AI and time tracking. The first part of the year was dominated by our new website – because the new products needed to find their place. Fortunately, we received active support from our new graphic designer during this phase – and suddenly the whole thing looked exactly as we had imagined it.

At the same time, our training material continued to grow: in addition to the existing training tours, new documentation was created for the mobile app, and it was only when we were creating it that we really realised how many functions had been added in the meantime – an impression that was confirmed when we looked at the 18-page document.

Our customer base also grew this year: we welcomed many new and exciting customers – a nice sign that our work is paying off.

And there was no shortage of shared experiences either...

... because our work consisted of more than just code and content.

Right at the beginning of the year, we welcomed a new addition to our office: a table football table. This was to strengthen team spirit – at least for those who play on the same team...

One of this year's highlights was Industry Night. On this evening, we opened our doors and gave insights into our work between development and marketing. It was nice to present our company from this perspective for once – and exciting to see the reactions that followed.

The reason for our joint asparagus dinner was as simple as it was compelling: some of the team had actually never eaten asparagus before. Of course, we couldn't let that stand – after all, further training is a top priority for us in all areas.

During our software chat, customers and interested parties were able to drop by on four afternoons to have a chat, ask questions and experience Vanillaplan in a relaxed atmosphere – a wonderful event that we would like to repeat.

Another highlight was the Digitalisation Conference, where our customer Santech, represented by Marc Bader, gave a presentation on Vanillaplan. When customers are so satisfied that they talk about it themselves, that's probably the best compliment.

For this year's team outing, we decided to leave the office and our laptops far behind and head out into nature. Hiking, scooter riding – and for those who wanted to go even higher, a detour to the rope park. It was a wonderful change of pace that brought us all closer together.

We ended the year with a cosy raclette and fondue evening in the office – with a full table, a full past year and full ambitions for the year ahead.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026.
