Right at the beginning stood the question of how we would tackle this project - a «big» one for us as people who do not come from the film industry. It quickly became clear to us that we wanted to produce the film entirely ourselves, in order to convey as authentic an impression of us as possible. Filming and sound recording, editing and direction were therefore completely in our hands.
Entirely in keeping with the Vanillaplan spirit, we sat down together as a team and worked out a concept jointly. We agreed quite quickly on the structure of the film: the first part should focus above all on the practical use of Vanillaplan in our customers' everyday work. This should be followed in the second part by an explanation of the software, the mobile app and the digital magnetic board with all their components, for which we were able to enlist the professional speaker Daniel Buser for support.
Because of coronavirus and the hygiene rules in force at the time, we could not put our plans into action straight away and had to wait until the end of April to start filming. But then things really got going!
We began filming at our long-standing customer az Holz AG, which was ultimately to prove our main location. In the film you can see the Vanillaplan software, the mobile app and the digital magnetic board in everyday use in the timber industry. In the subsequent interviews, employees talk about how they use Vanillaplan and what they think about using our software. We felt the highlight was the footage taken with our drone at az Holz AG and Jean Cron AG, which provides a cool perspective from high in the air.
After a two-hour reshoot a few weeks later we finally had all the material we needed. But that was when the work really began: the following weeks were shaped by deliberations about the right cut, the right music and the perfect coordination of the two.
In the end, of course, the result still had to withstand the sharp criticism of the Vanillaplan team, which by that point had grown to eight members. After some constructive suggestions for improvement and a final intensive reworking by our IT team, our image film was finally finished - and we are proud to be able to present our joint work.

Since the beginning of the year the wish to finally produce our own image film has been in the air at Vanillaplan. Step by step we came closer to this goal over the course of the year and a few weeks ago we finally managed to complete our long-awaited project! We had great fun filming at our customers' premises and so we would now like to take a look behind the scenes with you.
